The summers in the Upper Peninsula are spectacularly beautiful, and participants with families may wish to combine the conference with some quality time spent with their loved ones. Even for mathematicians traveling to Houghton on their own, there are many things to be done, many of an ``outdoors" variety. There are ample opportunities for boating, camping, canoeing, hiking, and fishing. Trips can be arranged (by boat or seaplane) to Isle Royal, a wilderness National Park in the middle of Lake Superior.
Meals
Meals will be provided for supported participants in the McNair Hall
cafeteria, a short two-minute walk from the dormitory. Non-supported
participants will be free to eat their meals at one of many local restaurants,
or to dine at McNair Hall. The daily cost for three meals at McNair is $16,
and a weekly pass is available for $75.
