In recent years, Barbara Bertram has been concentrating on the numerical
solution of first kind Fredholm integral equations. Such equations
are used in many imaging and reconstruction problems. These
are ill-posed problems, in general, which do not fit into traditional solution
methods. Her recent work includes the application of conjugate gradient
techniques for the solution of 2D and 3D problems. This was coupled
with a simple wavelet expansion of the unknown function in the two-dimensional
case.
