The MaCH-I program provides a one-week workshop to help students review
or develop mathematical skills crucial to college success.
Incoming students may not realize that college-level math is almost two
to three times as difficult as high-school level math, so we recommend
that incoming students enroll in the Precalculus
Workshop, even though they may have taken precalculus in high
school.
This option is a great choice for students who want to review algebra
and trigonometry. This workshop is a one-week long, intensive and
interactive learning experience.
The workshop begins by determining each student's skills and then
planning a study program tailored to his/her needs. Students
spend six hours a day in lecture and collaborative learning to gain a
thorough foundation in precalculus. The cohort nature of this
option ensures a supportive atmosphere, and the fast-paced structure of
this workshop will give determined students the skills to move into
Calculus I in the fall.
"I wanted a stronger and refreshed
background in algebra and trigonometry. I got exactly what I
wanted." -- former MaCH-I student
In addition, this workshop offers
- evening activities and study sessions
- additional tutoring by upperclass students
